Best management of facilities
For the firm that has derived measurable business benefit from the use of its premises.
2006 WINNER
Mark Waterhouse of Smith & Williamson with Margaret Lang of Intelligent Office UK.
Smith & Williamson moved its headquarters from a listed property in the West End to new offices in the City. It used this move not only to provide a modern and efficient working environment but also successfully to assist in altering the external perception of the Firm. The judges were particularly impressed with the trouble taken to measure the tangible benefits of the new facilities. This was an excellent example of a firm using a premises move as a tool in changing its market position.
RUNNER UP
SJ Berwin moved from three sites to a new City location. Much thought went into the move and the judges were particularly impressed with the level of staff involvement in the planning process. Some innovation was apparent , for example in attempts to unshackle lawyers from their desks. It was, however, unclear as to what extent the new facilities were employed to enhance the external image of the Firm.
3RD PLACE
Accenture moved staff from a number of scattered locations to new city offices. The move appeared well planned with good levels of communication with staff. The care given to environmental considerations was very impressive. The external effects of the move, if any, were not apparent.
