Mould breaking firm
For the firm that has created innovative approaches to doing business that have improved its commercial prospects as well as breaking the mould.
2007 WINNER
The winning team at Flint Bishop
Flint Bishop has responded to the Clementi reforms with flair and imagination. Their strategic re-packaging and re-positioning of their services to reach
a broader audience has resulted in a firm that is mould-breaking in its market. The firm’s comprehensive ‘at a distance’ services utilises the internet and call centres to offer streamlined legal services such as its “Wills Direct” service which allows clients to make a will over the telephone in just fifteen minutes. In addition, the firm’s ‘affiliate marketing’ initiative allows the firm to access the members of high profile organisations such as the Labour Party. These initiatives taken together have resulted in a firm that increased its revenue by nearly 50% last year.
2ND PLACE
Initiative and innovation permeates Pannone from the top down. The firm has exhibited behaviour not usual in law firms such as its investment in I-com, a search engine optimisation company to its Door2Law and Connect to Law initiatives. The first initiative showed the firm’s willingness to think outside the box in order to protect its web presence as well as enhance its service to clients.
Its Door2Law scheme is a client focused project for small businesses which allows them affordable access to specialist legal services. In addition, the firm is noted for its open staffing policies and is regularly recognised in independent surveys as a top place to work.
3RD PLACE AND EUROPEAN WINNER 2007
The team at Cuatrecasas with Alex Novarese (right) of sponsors Legal Week
In its market, Cuatrecasas is a firm that stands out from its peers for its willingness to modernise and adopt best practices from more developed legal markets. For example, it was the first law firm in Spain to structure itself as a partnership, the first to become an Iberian law firm and the first to adopt modern practice management tools such as knowledge management software. Although many of the initiatives the firm has adopted are not necessarily new for Anglo-Saxon firms for example, within the Spanish legal market, Cuatrecasas has been mould-breaking.
