Hammonds LLP has very clearly demonstrated in the award submission the way in which the measured outcomes of the risk management programme are used to inform the ongoing strategy for the risk team. The firm gave evidence of how approaching risk management as a discipline to enhance performance is paying dividends in so many parts of the business.

The task of embedding a positive attitude to risk management within the culture of a firm is no mean feat. Hammonds offer examples of how this is being achieved. For these reasons the judges felt that Hammonds LLP are well deserving winners of this year's award for risk management.

Having experienced two major situations during the infancy of the business the firm has demonstrated in the submission document how it recognises and acts upon the fact that a robust approach to risk management is critical in a modern professional service firm.

3RD PLACE

Davis Langdon LLP gave a number of excellent examples of how the firm's risk management strategy is enabling it to control the risks across it international business operation. In particular the judges were impressed by the way in which the firm approaches the not inconsiderable risk exposures of working in the Middle East.

The operational procedures to support the analysis of the risk have clearly been put in place and it will be interesting to hear more in the future from this firm about how this approach is supporting the growth of the business in these more "risk" parts of the world.
