SJ Berwin, 10 Queen Street Place, London EC4R 1BE

Thursday 2 October 2008

The impact of the credit crunch has begun to take its toll and the effects are predicted to be with us for some time yet. For PSFs, where people are at the heart of the business, HR have a key role to play in challenging economic times as issues such as capacity management, the need for greater flexibility and mobility, protection of your employer brand and employee engagement and morale all come to the fore.

We will be joined by Professor John Philpott, the CIPD's Chief Economist, who will offer an insight into the drivers of the current downturn, the likely impacts on the labour markets and the trends we can expect in both the short and medium term. Alongside him will be Steve Lee, of Aretai, who led the Andersen HR team in 2002, Steve will offer a practioner's view on the challenges of managing in a downturn, including strategies for maintaining employee engagement in uncertain times.
