Our choice for first place is Baker & McKenzie BAME network BakerEthnicty. This initiative, started in 2006 to address a lack of diversity within the trainee cohort at the firm. The network has resulted in a tangible change to the diversity of the London office. In 2006 only 3% of trainees were Black, Asian or minority ethnic (BAME), today 32% are plus a steady increase in the number of BAME associates and partners. The firm have also forged partnerships with a number of organisations and made small but clever changes to their processes like removing names from applications for roles.
