Mentoring agreement

The purpose of a mentoring agreement is to assist both parties in documenting mutually agreed upon goals and parameters to serve as the framework for their mentoring relationship.

PROFORMA AGREEMENT

This mentoring agreement is between ..................................................................(Mentee)

and .......................................................................................................(Mentor)


By signing this agreement, both parties agree to:

  • Follow the guidance on what make a good Mentor / what makes a good Mentee
  • Meet monthly for at least one hour for at least six months. This allows sufficient time to achieve a positive outcome and for good Mentors to mentor more Mentees.
  • Meet as mutually agreed and/or re-arrange an alternative date within five working days
  • Keep the discussions confidential
  • Provide phone, Zoom/Teams or email support if needed and agreed
  • Update the system with relevant dates, in particular the date of this agreement and those of completed sessions
  • Contribute an anonymous score on the performance of the other party at the conclusion of the mentoring relationship  
  • The Mentor agrees to give unconditional time and space to the Mentee at the agreed sessions
  • The Mentee agrees to participate in the process openly and positively

In the event that either party finds the mentoring relationship unproductive and requests that it be terminated, both parties agree to honour that individual’s decision without question or blame.
